Encompassing miles upon miles of shorefront, the Greater Sarasota Area stretches from Bradenton all the way to Venice, and includes a number of desirable communities. The area in and of itself is typically regarded as quite affluent, with beautiful beaches and large estates that look out onto the Gulf.

When it comes to luxury real estate in Sarasota—that is, homes priced upwards of one million dollars—prospective buyers have a vast number of options to choose from. Homes in the Sarasota area include bungalows and multi-story properties, waterfront estates and gated homes; there’s a property on the market that’s sure to suit your needs. As the area is also recognized for tourism, many choose to have a second home here as a vacation getaway.

As the Greater Sarasota Area is quite large, there are a wide variety of different home styles and types. Architecturally, luxury homes in the neighborhoods near the coast feature many custom homes from renowned builders. Some of the most popular designs in this area are Mediterranean and Spanish styles, in both multi-story and single-story variations. However, as Sarasota is known particularly for its architecture (the city has a long and rich history), there are a selection of unique, modern and contemporary homes (including Sarasota School of Architecture) on the market—however these typically sell quickly.

Luxury homes for sale usually have some acreage attached, although this depends on the neighborhood and location. Homes located in the luxury neighborhoods close to the Sarasota downtown typically have smaller lot sizes, although properties do often have gates or fences for some added privacy. Harbor Acres, one of the luxury Sarasota neighborhoods, is desirable for its quiet streets and beautiful custom homes with expert landscaping. Many of these homes also have water access with private docks on the bayfront, which makes these homes appealing.

Waterfront homes on the keys (Longboat Key, Siesta Key, etc) are some of the most luxurious—and sought-after—properties on the market. And although the luxury Sarasota market is primarily single-family homes and estates, the contemporary waterfront condos are also exceptional in this area.

Luxury Communities & Amenities In Sarasota

There are a great many luxury neighborhoods to choose from in the Sarasota area, each with their own features and characteristics. From families to summer vacationers, there are homes on the market that suit your lifestyle.

Luxury neighborhoods in Sarasota include the desirable waterfront and beachfront communities, as well as the private, gated ones (typically located inland). Desirable communities include those close to the heart of Sarasota, such as Cherokee Park, or those tucked away in more secluded areas, such as Lido Shores on Lido Key. These estates often back onto the water, which are the perfect option for boating enthusiasts.

Additionally, Sarasota is known for its golf communities: Legends Bay and University Park in Bradenton, Founders Club and Lakewood Ranch in Sarasota—the list goes on. These neighborhoods are usually gated, and desirable for their extra perks, such as a resident-only clubhouse, tennis courts, spas, special golf memberships, and so much more.

Luxury condos, while less prevalent than single-family homes, offer excellent community amenities. These can include 24-hour concierge service, an in-building fitness center, charging stations, boat slips, additional storage space, entertaining and lounge spaces, and more.
