Sarasota area real estate displayed a bit of an oddity in December, 2016 but at the same time, a positive for those considering buying a home or condo here during the winter months up North.  There was a big increase in condominium and townhome sales in both Sarasota and Manatee County compared to December 2015.  Sarasota County saw a 12.5% increase while Manatee County saw a 7.8%  increase. On the other hand, single-family sale closings were down from the rate in December last year. Sarasota County single-family home sales dropped  by 6.1%, while Manatee experienced an 8.2% decrease.

  Home and condominium sales in the Sarasota Florida area continued at a slightly slower pace in early 2016 compared to a year ago. There was also an increase in the number of properties for sale on the market in both Sarasota and Manatee County.  Altogether during February, 2016, there were a total of 1,359 properties (888 single-family homes and 471 condos and townhomes) sold a drop of 4.8% from the volume of homes and condos/townhomes sold in February, 2015.

 You may recall that the planned construction of the new Aqua luxury condominiums at Golden Gate Point was derailed this past June due to zoning complications.  But one of the two original developers, Jonathan McCague, reported recently that a new design has been completed and construction of the the eight-unit ultra-luxury waterfront condo tower is back on track.
