We’ve discussed the awe-inspiring beauty of Sarasota quite often in our blogs. However, there is more that meets the eye in Southwest Florida. I’d like to introduce you to a hidden gem known as Nokomis. Nokomis, FL sits just north of Venice and south of Osprey. The town harbors a historic and pristine beach in Nokomis Beach; a 22 acre beach park that attracts tourists and locals alike. Nokomis Beach runs into North Jetty Park, right next to the intercoastal waterway—a prime location for fishing, boating and scenic sunsets.

Because of the shape and location of the town, virtually anything you do with be overlooking some type of body of water, whether it be the bay, intercoastal or the Gulf. Let’s be honest, peering out to a body of water while you’re out to dinner, playing golf, or spending quality time with the family, always makes for a better time!

Casey Key and Nokomis Beach are two amazing attractions that while encompass tourists, are far less crowded than their neighbor beaches to the north (Sarasota and Venice). Make no mistake, you get just as good of a turquoise blue view from either beach. And it’s not just the crystal-clear waters that is a main attraction. Nokomis is well known for it’s good eating, too. Pop’s Sunset grill, Saltwater Café and North Jetty Tap & Grill are some hot spots, just to name a few. If you like award-winning gulf shrimp, or seafood in general, you cannot go wrong in this Gulf Coast gem.

Lastly, the outdoor activities are endless, The Nokomis Community Park has everything a family could ask for: playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and shade for mom and dad to relax while the kids play. There is also The Legacy Trail which spans from Sarasota to Venice for cyclists, roller bladers and joggers to enjoy.

Come on down and check out what this lovely city has to offer!
